The McDonald’s font that most resembles the one used in the official logo for this American fast food chain is a typeface by the name of Mclawsuit. It was designed and created by a font author known as Jesse Burgheimer.
About the McDonalds brand
With over 38,700 locations worldwide, Mcdonald’s finds itself at the #1 spot when it comes to the top largest fast food chains in the world. But every business has to start somewhere, and McDonald’s is no exception. Founded in 1948, Dick and Mac McDonald’s separated themselves from the already existing drive-in restaurants by inventing the Speedee Service System, a system that revolutionized the restaurant industry, redefining what it meant to be a fast food system. You could be fast, but you could never be McDonald’s fast. This system soon evolved into the fast food service that we experience today, and with Ray Kroc’s purchase of the Mcdonald’s chain, the expansion (both nationally within in the USA and later Globally) came just as fast as the food did. Today we see that the Golden Arches logo, lettering and colours are recognised and loved all over the world. In the land Down Under in Australia, the McDonald’s brand is affectionately known as Maccas. Here in America, the nickname for McDonald’s is Mickey D’s.

McDonald’s needs one thing and one thing only: The golden arches. These golden arches were inspired by the architecture of one of McDonald’s earlier branches as designed by Mac McDonald, but it soon evolved into something more with Ray Kroc’s vision. The golden arches logo of Mcdonald’s is iconic enough to stand on its own with a basic sans-serif font in white color, and that speaks volumes of its success. The curvature of the arches gives the logo a very gentle and family friendly vibe, which pairs well with the colorway of the fast food chain. McDonald’s uses a red, white, and gold colorway for its branding, with red often being the backdrop of all their marketing materials.
