The Amazon font that is used in the official logo for the world’s largest online marketplace is a typeface by the name of ITC Officina Sans. It was designed and created by two font authors called Erik Spiekermann and Ole Schäfer.

Amazon’s logo is simple yet clever, leaning closer on the playful side. It’s a well-known fact that the orange arrow on the logo is meant to symbolize amazon having every item from A-Z, but the arrow also works as a charming smirk that is sure to catch anyone’s eye. Amazon’s typeface uses a modified version of the ITC Officina Sans in an all-lowercase profile. This font uses soft lines and rounded edges, giving the logo its playful yet instantly recognisable look. The playful stylization of the logo is offset by the professional colorway of black/navy blue, orange, and white. Amazon uses this colorway to it’s advantage, utilizing the high contrast of the orange against the navy blue and the white to emphasize the charming arrow/smirk on its logo.

About the Amazon brand

Amazon is America’s leading e-commerce website with over 230 million unique monthly visitors in the United States alone. Furthermore, Amazon has already acquired a multitude of companies including Twitch, the Alexa network, and even offering its own premium membership program in Amazon Prime. Today, Amazon boasts an overwhelming brand value of over $705.7 billion, which is a far cry from its roots. Jeff Bezos, Amazon’s founder and CEO, registered Amazon in 1994 as a retail company with a focus on selling books. Although many companies at the time were already in the market vying for the top spot in online book retail, Jeff Bezos focused on the goal of being able to deliver products to any point in the United States.
